Universal Orlando Resort has begun sharing early details about its 2026 Halloween event. Initial announcements point to a theme centered on returning original characters Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow.

This year’s event is themed the “Infernal Carnival of Nightmares,” with the first letters of each word spelling out “icon.”

Halloween Horror Nights 35 will take place at Universal Studios Florida on select nights from August 28 through November 1, 2026. . The event remains one of its longest-running seasonal offerings, with this year marking its 35th. The event features haunted houses, scare zones, and live entertainment.

Focus on Returning Event Icons

Universal has confirmed that Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow are returning as this year’s “Ringmasters of Fear.”

Jack the Clown first appeared during Halloween Horror Nights X in 2000. He has returned in multiple years and remains one of the event’s most recognizable figures. Dr. Oddfellow appeared more recently as the icon of the event in 2023 and has been connected to Jack in past narratives.

Early promotional material suggests the 2026 event will explore a story involving both characters. Universal has not released a full plot description. The use of both figures indicates a connected narrative.

What We Know So Far

Universal confirmed one haunted house for this year’s event called, ” Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control. The original haunted house will explore “unsettling origins of the two adversaries’ undying rivalry.”

In a press release announcing the haunted house, Universal described it this way: “As chaos and control collide, the two icons battle for dominance until they ultimately discover that the only way to obtain the power they seek is not to fight each other — but to join forces instead.”

Announcements Remain Limited

Universal teased the announcement in March 2026 before confirming the involvement of the two characters. The company has not yet revealed the full lineup of haunted houses or scare zones.

No licensed properties have been confirmed at this time. Universal typically announces those details in phases.

I deeply miss horror as it was made in the 80s.
After the 80s, there is an argument that everything good had already been done. Music, movies, art. All the great ideas were there, and, after that, it’s diminishing returns.
