Comments from Adam Fogelson have renewed discussion about a possible John Wick 5 film. In an interview with Business Insider, Fogelson said the studio has considered the idea of another installment.
“Chad and Keanu have an idea that they think can be really exciting,” he said. “There are a lot of steps, so I wouldn’t want to put a timeline on it. But in terms of finding a core idea, they seem to have landed on something that they are excited about, and now we’ll see.”
Fogelson, vice chair of Lionsgate, described the situation as ongoing conversations rather than a formal plan. His remarks suggest interest, but not commitment.
Impact of John Wick: Chapter 4’s Ending
The fourth film, John Wick: Chapter 4, ended in a way that many viewers saw as conclusive. The character portrayed by Keanu Reeves appears to reach the end of his journey, with a gravestone to signal the character’s demise.
Even Keanu Reeves said, “The character is dead. He died.”
However, that comment was from last year. And without an actual scene showing Wick’s death, perhaps there is a way to bring him back.

Fogelson didn’t outline a specific approach for a fifth film. He said the studio would only move forward if a strong creative idea emerges. This reflects the challenge of extending a story that many viewers see as having a defined ending.
Creative Considerations From the Filmmakers
Director Chad Stahelski has made similar comments in past interviews. He has said that returning to the character would require a clear creative purpose and also emphasized that expanding the story should not come at the expense of its internal logic.

There is no confirmed script or production schedule at this time. Keanu Reeves has not publicly committed to another installment.
Franchise Expansion Beyond John Wick 5
While John Wick 5 remains uncertain, the franchise continues to grow through additional projects set in the same universe. The spin-off film Ballerina was released June 6, 2025.
It stars Ana de Armas and follows a trained assassin seeking revenge for her family’s death. The story is set within the established timeline of the John Wick films and draws on the same criminal underworld, including connections to the Ruska Roma organization introduced in earlier entries.
The prequel series The Continental explores the origins of the hotel-for-assassins network seen throughout the films. Set decades before the events of the main series, it focuses on a young Winston Scott and his rise within the organization. The show examines how the Continental became a central institution in the franchise’s world, along with the rules and power structures that govern it.
These projects expand the setting beyond the central character while maintaining continuity with the broader narrative. They also allow Lionsgate to develop new storylines as discussions about John Wick 5 continue.
Current Status Remains Unclear
Fogelson’s comments do not confirm a greenlight for a fifth film. The studio has not confirmed a decision, and any next steps would depend on future creative development.
However, just the possibility of a fifth installment has already generated discussion among audiences.
