Actress Kate Beckinsale says she reached out to Mark Ruffalo for support after losing her agent, but received no response. The two actors shared representation at the time, and Beckinsale suggests the fallout followed her engagement with a social media post supporting a Gaza ceasefire. Ruffalo, who has been considerably more outspoken on political issues, does not appear to have faced similar professional consequences.

In a series of since-deleted posts, Beckinsale described the situation as an example of what she sees as a double standard in Hollywood. Although she and Ruffalo broadly align in their views, she expressed frustration with both his silence and an industry she believes responds differently when men and women speak out publicly.
Context and Timing
Ruffalo recently appeared in a promotional video for Palestine ’36, a film depicting a 1936 revolt against British colonial rule. On Instagram, Beckinsale wrote a comment that “it must be so nice not to be fired by your agent for liking a post about a ceasefire and not supporting the murdering of children.”

The actress went on to suggest in graphic terms that Ruffalo was protected from consequences in this situation because of his gender. Beckinsale added that the week before her firing, their agent had sent her a gift, making the decision feel especially abrupt. “But I liked a post about a ceasefire and I’ve got fired on the same day as Susan Sarandon was fired, two days after the end of the strike after nine months of none of us being able to work at all,” she concluded.
Her post appears to reference the 2023 Screen Actors Guild strike, which lasted from July through November and halted most film and television production. Adding further weight to her argument about a possible double standard is that Sarandon had also spoken publicly in favor of a ceasefire in Gaza.
Personal Stakes
The firing appears to have occurred during a particularly difficult period in Beckinsale’s personal life. In her post, she noted that at the time she was caring for her elderly mother and stepfather. Beckinsale explained in her comment to Ruffalo that she “was fired in two sentences after 12 years of friendship with my Agent and yours who is very close to her elderly parents and definitely knew what I was dealing with, alone.”

Beckinsale concluded by saying that she had reached out to Ruffalo privately for support during that period, adding, “but you ignored me.” In a separate reply, she said, “I’m okay with him ignoring me” and expressed support for his work.
Ruffalo has not publicly responded to Beckinsale.
Industry Implications
Talent facing professional consequences for political expression is nothing new in Hollywood. Perceived double standards around who is held accountable, and how, are also widely discussed across the industry. Beckinsale framed this situation, and Ruffalo’s lack of response, as “male privilege even in the good guys.”

However, she did not name their shared agent or indicate that she was given a specific explanation for her firing. While Ruffalo has continued appearing in high-profile projects, some observers argue that Beckinsale’s career momentum has slowed in recent years. In an industry where you are often judged by your most recent work, maintaining visibility and momentum can be critical.
Until or unless her former agent publicly explains the decision—which remains unlikely—claims that Beckinsale was fired for her politics or gender remain speculative.

Surprise, surprise, Ruffalo is a total scumbag. Anyone who’s heard the crap that comes out of his mouth should not be surprised.
Always fun to watch Hollywood eat their own.
So, we have an airhead actress preaching (virtue signalling) about geopolitical terror and warfare. A topic she has no qualifications to preach to us about.
And, lo, her career rightfully collapses, now she’s no longer a hottie with lovely legs in leather.
And, her back-stabbing opponent is even worse. It seems you must be a J*wish bloke doing the same thing to do so with impunity.
Well, this is another reason to avoid watching that woke Ruffulo c**t in Doomsday, and, woah, the next gay Spiderman simp movie, too. The next Spiderman with the race-swapped MJ girlboss n*gress, who cheats on him like the ho she is.
I used to love movies and even some TV. But now, it’s depressing.
Ruffalo is only interested in helping male actors, and even then, it’s only the ones who come to his house for Mark’s Dark Pedo Parties (patent pending).
Someone’s got to take the (baby oil coated) torch that Diddy dropped…
No one cares about has-been actresses. The real anger, right now, is around the woke Harry Potter race-swaps. I mean, people are FURIOUS. The reaction for this woke Harry Potter is far angrier than black Captain America, where fans just shrugged and stayed away.
Here, it feels like the Entertainment industry is maliciously subverting something sacred, really sacred.
At least there was a black man in actual Captain America lore. There’s no precedent for Black Snape, and tons of written description undermining the race swap.
They had to pick just about the only character in the entire cast who’s skin tone was totally unambiguous. Hell, even Harry could have been race swapped more easily than Snape.
She did a big No-No in the Jewish-ran Hollywood. That aside it’s great to see leftists fight.
Gobble gobble gobble gobble they eat’s they own.
Aminal Farm.
*sigh* Must all actors and actresses I like turn out to retarded in the end? All of them? If you ever need a case for AI Actors it is shit like this. At least AI doesn’t feel the need to “speak” out and make a fool kf itself in the process. I hate this level if cynicism, man I do, but look what we are working with…
First: if you are a public entertainment figure, keep your mouth shut on politics, local or international. Yeah, that might feel bad for you, but welcome to how everybody else with an opinion feels today. Even lowly peasants can get canceled and lose their jobs, so imagine waht can happen if your voice is amplified by fame. Shocker, if you think 2 seconds about it. And dont tell me anything about having the “right” or “wrong” opinion. In the age of the eternal internet, that holds true at best for the moment. Sooner or later the tables turn and your “right” opinion is now “wrong” and for all to see online.
Second: no where in this whole story is there any hint whatsoever that is has anything to to with gender. None. Zero. Nada. Take that card, turn it sideways, and shove it.
Good god, that picture makes her look like she was auditioning for a role in Wicked but lost to Ariana Grande because she’s too fat.
I loved her in the Underworld movies, but she should have left it at that. We can only hope her story lets other people know they can’t rely on Ruffolo for anything. How could she have thought the… cabal who run Hollywood would forgive her sin of rooting for Hamas over Israel? Unlike Ruffolo, she hasn’t appeared (in part) in a string of billion dollar box-office smashes in recent memory.
She never has, and never will. Why did she think she could virtue signal against the interests of the people who sign the checks and get away with it?
