Chuck Dixon, known for creating Bane and his long runs on Batman and Punisher, announced a new project he’s working on with artist Joe Bennett titled Horseman.

The announcement was made during Megacon in Orlando with Dixon stating, “Joe Bennett had this idea and he presented it to me, and he said, ‘What the Rippaverse really needs is a street-level crime fighting character, a guy without any superpowers, self-made man. And so Joe and I created, together, created Horseman.”

He continued, “And we presented the idea to [Rippaverse owner and publisher] Eric [July] and thank God he liked it. So we’re creating a one-shot presenting the Horseman. Super action the way only Joe Bennett can deliver it, and it’s going to be a lot of fun, I promise.”

Dixon previously hinted at this story and new character when speaking with Bounding Into Comics back in August 2023.

He said, “The second thing I did for [Rippaverse] was kind of in the vigilante, sort of Batman, Punisher mode, but I sort of turn everything on its head in a way that Marvel and DC wouldn’t allow you to do it.”

Dixon added, “But not in a R-rated way. I’m still writing comics for a precocious 10-year old.”

As seen on the book’s cover, the character wears a blue horse mask and wields a pair of spiked batons. He also comes equipped with armored greaves and armguards.

The character also has a number of pouches.
