On February 24, 2026, Walt Disney World briefly listed an expanded title for the attraction Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run on its official website and the My Disney Experience app. The ride appeared with the additional subtitle “– A New Mission,” a change tied to an updated storyline that is set to debut in May 2026.

The change surfaced in online searches on February 24 before disappearing on February 25, a short interval that drew attention from park guests and industry observers. The adjustment coincides with the ride’s upcoming narrative expansion involving characters from the Star Wars franchise, notably Din Djarin and Grogu, which is scheduled to coincide with the release of the film The Mandalorian and Grogu on May 22, 2026.

The temporary subtitle was added ahead of the new content rollout despite not appearing consistently across all official pages. Shortly after it became visible in search results, Disney removed the new wording, restoring the attraction’s listing to its familiar form. The company has not provided a public explanation for the reversal. Was it a new name released ahead of schedule? Or is this another time Disney decided to backtrack on too long of a name?

Expanded Storyline and Ride Updates

Disney’s updated description connects the ride’s narrative to the broader Star Wars universe by incorporating elements from recent media. According to the official text, beginning May 22, 2026, riders will “join Din Djarin, the mysterious Mandalorian bounty hunter, and his youngling Grogu on an exciting new mission — tracking down elusive ex-Imperial officers throughout the galaxy.”

In addition, the description states that “for the first time ever, the crew will be in control of their own destination,” with possible stops including Bespin, Coruscant and the wreckage of the second Death Star near Endor. It also notes that engineers aboard the Millennium Falcon can communicate with Grogu during the mission, allowing them more control over the success of the mission.

Despite the lengthy listing that appeared in search results, the broader digital presence for the ride has maintained the original title. The updated description remains visible on the Walt Disney World site, listing May 22nd as the date for the enhanced mission, even as the subtitle has vanished.

Context: Disney Naming Practices

Disney’s approach to attraction naming has varied over time, with some titles reflecting multiple revisions before settling on a final form. For example, EPCOT Center was later shortened to simply Epcot in public marketing, and other offerings like temporary event titles have included additional descriptors that were later dropped. These adjustments can reflect shifting branding strategies or efforts to align with current media properties.

Perhaps we’re seeing the same thing with the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Or perhaps that really is what Disney is planning to go with in May, and this was just an accidental early release.

Ultimately, the attraction’s schedule for May 22, 2026 stands unchanged. Guests will get a new adventure, with new characters, locations, and updated roles.
