The trigger warning states, “The games in this collection contain offensive depictions of people and cultures rooted in racial and ethnic prejudices. These stereotypes are deeply harmful, inexcusable, and do not align with our values at Crystal Dynamics.”

It adds, “Rather than removing this content, we have chosen to present it here in its original form, unaltered, in the hopes that we may acknowledge its harmful impact and learn from it.”

A mod that was uploaded to Nexus Mods on February 15th by Pyke removed the trigger warning. The brief description of the mod stated, “This mod removes Crystal Dynamics’ incorrect message about the game supposedly being offensive. If you felt offended by that warning, this mod is for you.”

It added, “Nothing complicated, it’s just text in the COMMON.TXT file. Write your own message there and leave some words of wisdom for Crystal Dynamics!”

The mod has since been removed from Nexus Mods. When trying to access the mod page an error message appears that says, “The mod you were looking for couldn’t be found.”

YouTuber Vara Dark reacted to the mod being taken down. She said, “Nexus Mods have become a group of activists. The owner of Nexus Mods is a complete and utter laughingstock.”

She later added, “Clearly, Nexus Mod’s activism is in full support of historical revisionism because they’re not allowing anyone to remove a content warning that wasn’t in the original game and contains an inaccurate description of the content in the games.”

While Nexus Mods removed the mod, the mod can be found at ModDB.
