Seth Rogen may have a voice cameo in the upcoming Supergirl movie. The rumor came from entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider on an episode of The Hot Mic podcast with John Rocha. Sneider dropped the news when sharing what a spy had told him from an early Supergirl test screening.

When asked who Rogen might be voicing, Sneider said, “Beats me. I don’t know. I don’t know who it is. Didn’t ask.”

As frustrating as it might be to fans that Sneider didn’t request more information, the rumor is plausible enough to spark conversation. Though Supergirl was directed by Craig Gillespie, producer James Gunn’s influence over the DCU is pronounced. Rogen and Gunn seem to share the same sense of humor — edgy and often juvenile — which could make Rogen a good fit for a Gunn-adjacent project.

The cosmic scope of Supergirl also suggests the likelihood of many CGI creatures, any of which could be voiced by Rogen.

Speculation and Scoopers

According to VarietySupergirl has Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl traveling “across the galaxy.” Krypto, her dog first seen in Superman and more recently in the Supergirl trailer, is with her. A user in the live chat during The Hot Mic livestream suggested that Rogen could be providing the voice for Krypto, and Rocha pointed out that the dog has spoken in the comics.

“I have no idea,” Sneider said. “I can follow up, but I don’t know.” Later that day, Sneider got on X to say he’d confirmed with his source that Rogen is not voicing Krypto, but didn’t say anything more. Sneider may have chosen to remain deliberately vague since just days earlier Gunn had accused him of starting the rumor that Dave Bautista had been cast as Brainiac in the next Superman movie, Man of Tomorrow. It was an accusation that Sneider denied.

With this latest Supergirl rumor, Sneider simply encouraged fans to speculate who Rogen might be voicing.

But speculation may have been cut short. According to ComicBookMovie.com, scooper Daniel Richtman said that Rogen is playing “a small alien guy who helps run a space bus.” There is a shot in the teaser of Kara at a space bus stop, though no small aliens appear. Richtman added that the character is “kinda funny.”

Considering Rogen’s prior voice work, it’s a description that seems suited to his abilities.

Rogen to the Rescue?

Rogen has been lending his voice to animated characters since 2007’s Shrek the Third. In 2023 he did the voice of Bebop in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which he also co-wrote and produced. The same year he was the voice of Donkey Kong in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Next year, Rogen will play Napoleon the pig in a cartoon adaptation of Animal Farm.

Ultimately, there has been neither confirmation nor denial of Rogen’s involvement in Supergirl. Meanwhile, the Supergirl trailer received more YouTube downvotes in its first 24 hours than the Superman trailer did in its first six months. As the studio considers how to best adjust its marketing campaign, it’s possible fans will hear Rogen sooner rather than later.

Not a fan of Seth Rogen. Maybe he’d be ok as the driver of the space bus.

When you let 50 year old potheads control the creative direction of something you get the most recent TMNT movie.

Mad Lemming

Like we needed another reason to avoid this movie like the plague? Rogen’s not even a has-been; he’s a never-was. He never was funny, he never was likable, and he never was good at acting or directing or being a good person.
