Showrunner Russell T. Davies and The BBC will continue to embrace hedonism and degeneracy in their current run as a Doctor Who rumor claims Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor will be involved in a homosexual relationship.
Posted over a year ago to the DoctorWhoNews subreddit and recently resurfaced on the Gallifrey subreddit, user NoElevator9376 detailed, “The companion Ruby Sunday will have a boyfriend who romantically falls for the Doctor gradually over the next two seasons.”
The user continued, “It’s planned that the Doctor only reciprocates through flirting for now, but it may develop further if received well.”
The leaker goes on to claim that the reason for this gay romance is because Russell T. Davies “wants to avoid the classic female companion falling for the Doctor whilst the boyfriend gets pushed aside. He still wants a love interest to keep an element of romantic drama, though.”
Furthermore, the leaker asserts, “Disney see this being controversial as the romantic Doctor plot-line has been used a lot.”
While this is one reason, it’s also quite likely the show is trying to continue to normalize this “intrinsically disordered” behavior and delude viewers into thinking this type of behavior is acceptable. It is not.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches, “Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that ‘homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.’ They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they approved.”
On top of this the leaker claims Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor’s personality “is hoped to be similar to Captain Jack Harkness’ in terms of being flirty and fun, but with a side of sternness and anger as to not become a caricature.”
Furthermore, the leaker claims one of the main storyline’s for the show will center “around him regenerating into an evil version of himself called the Valeyard. This is hinted at throughout Season 1 with flashbacks to previous Doctor’s warning Ncuti of his future.”
Specifically, the scooper states, “The finale of Season 1 is a story about a small group of Dalek survivors that intend to take over world set in 1940s America. It is revealed that the rest of the Daleks were destroyed by the Doctor in his future.”

Finally, the scooper relays, “It’s intended that Doctor will regenerate into the Valeyard Midway through Season 3 with a future version of 15 going back in time to attempt to get him to regenerate back into himself.”
He concluded, “It’s hoped that previous Doctors will be in 15’s final episode, but nothing is confirmed as actors will have different schedules.”
It’s not hard to imagine if this rumor turns out to be true that the ratings for the show will collapse even more than they currently have. According to ratings from Doctor Who Guide, the first 60th anniversary special “The Star Beast” had overnight ratings of 5.08 million. It would eventually have total viewership of 7.61 million in the United Kingdom.
The second episode “Wild Blue Yonder” declined by a quarter of a million viewers or 5% to 4.83 million in its overnight ratings. When final ratings came in the show only brought in 7.14 million albeit it was previously reported to be 6.9 million.
Overnight ratings for the third episode “The Giggle” clocked in at 4.62 million. Full ratings have not been announced yet.
Clearly, the show has already lost nearly half a million viewers in just two episodes. If you compare the overnight numbers from the first episode to the third episode, it’s a decline of nearly 10%.
