This latest rumor comes from ComicBook.com’s Adam Barnhardt. He claims, “ComicBook.com can report Wilson Bethel’s Benjamin Poindexter, a fan-favorite from the third season of Netflix’s Daredevil, is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe during the events of Daredevil: Born Again. While it’s unclear how extensive his role will be, Bethel’s beloved Bullseye will, in fact, appear.”

This latest rumor regarding the show comes in the wake of a rumor from Jeff Sneider, who claimed that the show will also bring back actors Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson to reprise their roles as Karen Page and Foggy Nelson.

It also comes after Marvel Studios announced they were scrapping their original plans for Daredevil: Born Again and for all intents and purposes starting over.

In October, The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit shared the announcement explaining Marvel Studios was planning a “significant creative reboot of the series.

The reboot saw Marvel Studios can writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman as well as the show’s planned directors. To clarify, Ord and Corman were removed from creative duties, but remained as executive producers.

Kit also claimed that the show, before it was scrapped, was supposed to be a legal procedural that did not have Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock in his Daredevil outfit until the fourth episode.

A description of the show from the U.S. Copyright Office Public Records systems revealed, “Marvel Studios presents Daredevil in which longtime rivals Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) try to leave behind their darker alter-egos to serve the people of New York only to have their pasts catch up to them. In the first episode of the series we are reintroduced to the world of Daredevil.”

Not only did U.S. Copyright Office Public Records system reveal a synopsis it also revealed the show’s cast that would not only see the return of Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, but the show would also see the return of Jon Bernthal’s Punisher.

Other members of the cast included Nikki James playing a race replaced Kristen McDuffie, Sandrine Holt as Vanessa Fisk, Genneya Walton as BB Urich, Clark Johnson as Cherry, Arty Froushan as Buck Cashman, and Zabryna Guevara as Sheila Rivera.

A previous rumor from scooper CanWeGetSomeToast also claimed the series would follow Murdock a year after he had quit being Daredevil because he was unable to save Foggy Nelson.

The scooper shared on X, “Originally, Daredevil: Born Again had Matthew hang up the Devil’s cowl for over a year after failing to save Foggy…”

“Kingpin would’ve been Mayor, winning on a campaign of backing law enforcement while discouraging street level heroes like Punisher, Daredevil… and Spider-Man,” the scooper added.

After their announced changes to the show, Marvel Studios hired Dario Scardapane, who previously worked on The Punisher and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan to showrun the series. They brought in Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead to direct the series. The duo previously worked on Loki Season 2 as well as multiple episodes of Moon Knight.

The directing duo gave an update on the series in the middle of November with Moorhead telling TheWrap, “It is day zero. We’re currently just consuming Daredevil content, not just the Netflix show but all the possible material. We’re just making our stew of information nice and thick.”

Benson joked, “We have the best answer for you. So you see this space we’re in right now? This is our office and we just found out we have an office about 45 minutes ago. And that’s what we’re at with Daredevil.”

More recently, Vincent D’Onofrio, who will reprise his role as Kingpin in the series shared his thoughts on the show being scrapped and restarted while also confirming that Marvel is now aligning the characters with the original Netflix versions.

He told The Hollywood Reporter, “During our restart of all the creative on Daredevil: Born Again, all the creatives got together and said, ‘Look, this is how we’ve got to do it now.’ So we are for sure only speaking about it in terms of being directly connected to the original Daredevil, and that’s a great thing.”

D’Onofrio added, “It brings in a lot of cool stories and all the collateral story that happened in those original three seasons. So we now get to start this Born Again situation with all of that history behind us and the outcome of all that history. So we’re all talking about Daredevil: Born Again in those terms now.”

He also shared that Marvel Studios needs to “be very savvy when it comes to the canon of these characters, Daredevil and Kingpin.”

“We need to be on it when it comes to the right tone, and we need to give them what they’re looking for when it comes to this kind of storytelling,” he emphasized. “It’s different from the other stuff. Neither of us have superpowers, and we’re not from outer space. We’re character-driven story characters. That’s the way we were presented originally, and that’s the idea now. So all of the artists and creatives behind this stuff are going to change things slightly to make our story interesting.”

As for his reaction to Benson and Moorhead joining, D’Onofrio said, “I’m a huge fan of those guys, and I talk to them all the time now. I’m so happy that they’re doing this show. I’m just so happy about it. When I heard that, I was like, ‘OK, not only are we switching things up, but the bosses are doing the right thing for us.’”

He elaborated, “They’ve given us their hottest talent, and that’s pretty cool. So the first thing I did was thank them. I thanked Kevin [Feige] for doing that and sticking with Charlie and I. It’s a pretty amazing thing.”
