Robert Downey Jr. revealed to be Doctor Doom at Marvel Studios' Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con via OnTheRedCarpet YouTube

Video footage from the Avengers: Doomsday set made the rounds online this week after a fan snuck into the supposedly secure filming location.

Earlier this month, the Marvel Universe suffered its worst security breach in recent memory.  A man under the TikTok handle @TheyNeverSawItComing pulled his very own “Mission Impossible” and was able to breach the mighty Marvel machine by sneaking onto the set of Avengers: Doomsday at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England.

He then uploaded all of the unauthorized Avengers: Doomsday set video footage on TikTok, as one does.

The video in question, which starts off with him climbing a large tree to scale a fence and then wandering about the production area, offers a rare glimpse into one of Marvel’s most secretive projects.  What is truly incredible here is that, not only was he able to actually make it onto the set unscathed, but in true Ethan Hunt style, he went above and beyond his mission parameters by not only filming cast trailers and a craft services table but helping himself to the food and drinks as well, all under the pretext of “looking like he belonged there”.

And it worked!  A textbook case of “faking it until you make it”.  Apart from the free food, the fan was also able to come away with a spoiler by filming part of the movie set itself — specifically the part that included the word “Madripoor.” this has gotten many a Marvel fan very excited.

If you haven’t been keeping up with your MCU TV watching, judging by the ratings, you aren’t alone.

“Madripoor” is the name of a fictional crime-ridden city featured in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and thanks to our intrepid TikToker, it looks like our heroes will be returning to its grungy streets once more in Avengers: Doomsday.  The clip, later removed from TikTok but shared widely on X and Instagram, has since fueled rampant speculation amongst fans that insist it confirms appearances by everyone from Sharon Carter to Shang Chi to even Wolverine himself, given Madripoor’s comic book ties.

The breach, however, has exposed some pretty massive holes in Marvel’s famously tight security protocols for Avengers: Doomsday’s production, their next (maybe) massive blockbuster which began filming in April 2025 under directors Anthony and Joe Russo. The TikTok user, wearing a balaclava, seemingly taunted Marvel in his video, with a caption claiming it was “too easy” to infiltrate the set, raising questions about on-site enforcement.

While the footage avoided major spoilers—showing no clear shots of actors or critical scenes—it prompted a swift response from Disney, with the video being taken down from TikTok. Marvel Studios has not issued an official statement, but industry norms suggest potential legal action or enhanced security measures to deter any copycats.

The incident has also divided the Marvel fandom, with some praising the gumption of @TheyNeverSawItComing and others condemning the breach as a violation of creative privacy. Going one step further, some skeptics on X are arguing that the entire thing could have in fact been staged, pointing to the intruder’s conspicuous filming, rather inconsequential spoilers and Marvel’s history of controlled leaks. Frankly, it isn’t outside of the realm of possibility, given Marvel’s desperation to generate much needed hype for its fading film franchise.

At the same time, however, the intruder has acted very un-fanlike in the time since he leaked the footage. After his video was taken down by TikTok, he taunted Marvel once more with the words “damage has already been done, cry more.”

Marvel, for its part, did not cry but apparently unleashed their lawyers on him instead, as his most recent post reads “received my first formal threat.”  If it is indeed an act, both the leaker and Marvel are leaning into it hard. Further, while we likely will see more spoilers in the months leading up to the movie’s (now delayed) release, they probably won’t be revealed in quite such a unique fashion.

This could very well be fake and trying to generate hype. They could be filming in my back yard and I still wouldn’t pay attention.

Every year I want the woke M-She-U to flop harder! If they’re this desperate, to fake a security breach, then their marketers must be worried, indeed.
