On August 13, 2025, a rumor first exclusively reported by That Park Place in March 2025 re-surfaced via insider Alex Perez’s Q&A on The Cosmic Circus, suggesting that Tatiana Maslany will reprise her role as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, set for release in December 2026.

The report that She-Hulk will appear in Avengers: Doomsday lists Maslany among a slew of Earth-616 heroes expected to appear, including Peter Parker, Stephen Strange, and Bruce Banner, positioning She-Hulk as part of the ensemble fighting multiversal threats.
While Marvel Studios has yet to confirm this, the speculation has ignited fierce debate online, with many fans expressing outright dread. This isn’t just fanboy griping—bringing back one of the MCU’s most polarizing characters could be sheer hubris on Marvel’s part, especially given the franchise’s recent struggles.
Here’s why resurrecting She-Hulk might be a recipe for disaster.
The She-Hulk Series: A Critical Darling, But an Audience Flop
Let’s rewind to 2022, when She-Hulk: Attorney at Law debuted on Disney+. On paper, it had potential: a legal comedy infused with superhero antics, starring the acclaimed Tatiana Maslany as the gamma-powered lawyer.

Critics largely praised it, awarding an 80-88% score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, audience reception told a different story. The series plummeted with a Rotten Tomatoes audience score dipping as low as 30-41%, even falling below the notoriously panned Inhumans at one point.
On the fan review site Criticless, the show has a 14% “Heinous” score.
It’s one of Disney+’s lowest-rated MCU shows by viewer metrics, with an average audience score of just 32%—a stark contrast to the franchise’s usual 80%+ benchmarks.

What went wrong? The show was unapologetically feminist propoganda, constantly wagging its finger at the fans and even having so-called “toxic fandom” as the show’s actual villain. Of course, Maslany and many others continued lambasting the fans off camera as well, claiming the backlash against the show was “review bombing” instead of legitimate issues with the show’s messaging, writing, and visual effects.
Uneven CGI, tonal inconsistencies, and a narrative that felt more like a sitcom than a superhero epic were common complaints among fans. Viewership data was lackluster, failing to crack the top tiers of Disney+ streams compared to hits like WandaVision or even Loki.

In an era where MCU projects are scrutinized for every misstep, reviving a character tied to such baggage seems like tempting fate.
The Bigger Picture: MCU’s Struggles and the Risk of Hubris
Marvel is at a crossroads. Post-Endgame, the MCU has faced “superhero fatigue,” with declining box office returns and critical dips. Avengers: Doomsday is meant to be a course correction, reuniting fan-favorites like the X-Men and Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom to battle multiversal incursions.

Injecting She-Hulk into this high-stakes ensemble feels like a non-sequitur. The rumor positions her alongside heavy-hitters like Thor and the actual Hulk, but with no clear arc detailed, it smacks of filler.
Financially, it’s a gamble. The She-Hulk series reportedly cost $225 million, yet its low engagement didn’t justify a second season—Maslany even confirmed in 2023 that it was off the table due to budget concerns.

Reviving her in a $400+ million blockbuster could inflate costs without boosting appeal. Fans aren’t clamoring for more Jennifer Walters; polls and social metrics show demand for classics like Spider-Man or Wolverine instead.
This move reeks of hubris, ignoring audience feedback in favor of continuity for continuity’s sake.

Moreover, the “woke” backlash has plagued recent MCU entries. She-Hulk’s overt social commentary amplified this, leading to bad review and boycotts. In a politically charged climate, reintroducing her could reignite flames Marvel can’t afford, especially with Doomsday needing to unite fans, not divide them.
Conclusion: Time to Let Sleeping Hulks Lie
In summary, She-Hulk remains one of the MCU’s most deeply unpopular characters and thus shouldn’t appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Her series’ poor audience scores, horrific reception, and lack of demand make her return in Avengers: Doomsday a monumentally bad idea.

Marvel should focus on proven winners to rebuild trust, not risk further alienation. If this rumor proves true, it could be the hubris that dooms the franchise’s revival.
Fans deserve better—let’s hope Kevin Feige is listening. But if history is any indication: he isn’t.

But it might be “fun” and therefore Lou and Kevin approved. Despite viewers telling them over and over their idea of “fun” doesn’t include such amateur writing and character portrayals.
Yeah, keep doubling down disney’s marvel, that’ll win back all the people going down that route initially drove away!
LOL
Let them include her. It’ll be another nail in the coffin of Doomsday’s box office.
They brought back that Brie Larson Bïtch, so why are people surprised.
Marvel is dead, so let’s just enjoy the Dumpster Fire!!!!!!!!
[…] As That Park Place previously reported, early production chatter hinted that She-Hulk would play a supporting role in the story. However, reports from the film’s own stars claimed Marvel Studios was filming Avengers: Doomsday with an incomplete script. This reportedly led to Deadpool writers being brought on mid-production to handle last-minute rewrites — or, in Kevin Feige’s words, “plussing” the film. […]
