Inflation for side items at Walt Disney World just exploded. We have a strategy for those of you looking to keep costs down.
It should be no great surprise that inflation is driving up the cost of food all over the world. At Walt Disney World, that inflation is causing a sudden shift in the price of side items that is actually astounding. There’s no hyperbole here. Look at these changes:
The cost of french fries has gone up by almost double. Where they were $2.99 before, now they’re $4.49.
Walt Disney World Restaurants Increase Side Dish Prices by 50%
It’s not just french fries. It’s nearly all of the side dishes at Walt Disney World! We’ve been following rises in prices since early May, after predicting it for far longer. Though individual restaurants and individual items have risen in the past, I have to say that this is the first we’ve seen a price increase of this magnitude across the broad a spectrum of offerings at the parks. Unfortunately, this may not be the last time.
Walt Disney World yesterday raised many food prices across the resort. But will that do anything to slow the rush of fans visiting the world's most popular theme park destination? https://t.co/Q0ly8hhntq

Ultimately, the point of this article is simple. If you’re going to Walt Disney World this summer, you need to plan to have more funds available. It might not seem like much but a 50% increase in side items can add up for a family going day-to-day. And kids love those french fries!
From a strategy standpoint, reserving a buffet location is looking better and better, honestly. For families on a budget, seriously, we recommend Trail’s End buffet at Fort Wilderness. We’re giving you a major tip here, but it’s inflation. Disney may crack down on this because of us posting it. However, here’s a plan for you:
Go to Trail’s End for breakfast. You can’t beat a twenty dollar all-you-can-eat breakfast for adults and twelve dollars for kids. You also will get free parking. Then, take the boat from Fort Wilderness to Magic Kingdom. If you’re going to Epcot that day, you can ride the monorail from there. You’ve just saved a huge amount of money on both parking and filling your family rather than spending almost five-dollars later on for a tiny portion of fries (per person). That’s what we advise right now for at least a day or two of your vacation.
As food prices go up, we’ll be here to help you navigate inflation at the parks.
