Sony and Marvel have released a new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While it offers the action and emotional beats fans expect, the new footage featuring the Hulk and a mystery villain has captured the most attention.

The preview also reveals more of the film’s plot. However, exactly how all the pieces fit together remains unclear. With Spider-Man: Brand New Day hitting theaters on July 31, this will likely be the final major look before release. Some fans argue that, like many modern trailers, it reveals too much. Yet the level of speculation and anticipation generated online suggests otherwise.

Spider-Man Is Changing In Brand New Day

The trailer opens by continuing the fallout from Spider-Man: No Way Home. Peter Parker remains isolated in a world that no longer remembers who he is. At the same time, something appears to be happening to Spider-Man himself. The trailer opens with Peter asking, “What is happening to me? I’m losing my mind. I am totally out of control.”

To clearly establish where the film falls in the Spider-Man timeline, Ned notes that it is his last semester at MIT. However, like MJ and everyone else, Peter’s former best friend has no idea who he is.

Peter is next seen approaching Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner in a classroom. He asks Banner if he has found a way to suppress mutant DNA and whether there is a way to “get rid of the bad aspects but keep the good.”

“How would you decide what parts of nature are good or bad?” Banner asks.

The trailer then introduces a new threat, personified by a hooded figure. Many fans assume this is Sadie Sink’s character, who has yet to be fully revealed. Regardless, Peter is told that he is immune to the primary danger. At the same time, he appears to be suffering from hallucinations.

The Hulk Finally Arrives

A major moment in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer comes when Bruce Banner transforms into the Hulk. The two heroes have frequently clashed in the comics, and it appears the film will finally bring that rivalry to the big screen. Marvel also seems to be moving away from the controlled version of the Hulk and returning the character to his more savage roots.

As in the earlier trailers, Spider-Man is also seen battling the Hand and bantering with Frank Castle. The added element of Peter struggling with both physical and mental changes only raises the stakes.

Fans React To The New Trailer

Immediately after the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer was released, social media was flooded with reactions.

Gary at Nerdrotic wrote, “Let’s hope the movie measures up to this trailer, because it’s amazing.”

“You know, this one just feels like a real Spider-Man movie,” one user wrote. “All the other Tom Holland films felt more like Avengers movies. This one actually captures that classic comic book vibe, and the tone has me fully hooked.”

Critics, however, noted that some of the core elements appear similar to the previous installment in the franchise.

“Okay look I don’t want to be overly negative but this just looks like a repeat of the last movie,” another user wrote. “Peter goes to a core Avengers character asking for help and things go wrong.”

The visuals in the new trailer also came under scrutiny.

“Man this looks sooo unfinished,” noted one commenter. “There’s definitely something wrong with the CGI.”

Those criticisms aside, anticipation for the new film appears to be exceptionally high.

Everyone Is Talking About Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Over the coming weeks, fans will continue discussing how the Hulk fits into the story of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and debating whether Sadie Sink is playing the mysterious villain. The trailer also raises questions about which classic comic book storylines may have inspired the film.

Ultimately, this final look at the upcoming movie appears to be accomplishing exactly what Marvel and Sony intended—it has everyone talking.
