The View co-host Sunny Hostin has licensed her name and likeness to an artificial intelligence studio, allowing digital versions of herself to appear in upcoming movies and television productions.
The television personality, attorney, and author has entered into an agreement with Fountain 0—the company behind an upcoming generative AI adaptation of The Odyssey—to develop one or more AI-generated adaptations of her work. The deal permits the studio to insert Hostin’s image into productions based on her novels, although she will reportedly retain control over its use.
According to Variety, Hostin is among the most prominent public figures to license her likeness to the emerging AI entertainment company.
“To be able to bring my novels to life in movie and TV form, and actually have my image inserted in the productions, so that audiences can relate to me through my stories beyond my role as an author, is incredibly exciting to me,” Hostin said.
“This entire generational innovation in filmmaking from Fountain 0 gives me confidence that AI can give me a way to both more fully develop, and more fully immerse myself in, [intellectual property] I have developed,” she continued.
Hostin Says AI Could Bypass Hollywood Gatekeepers
Many have suggested that emerging AI technology could give everyday creators access to opportunities rarely available outside the studio system. However, Hostin frames that potential primarily around a specific subset of storytellers.

“For years, we have heard Hollywood talk about diversity, equity and inclusion, and yet the barrier to entry for Black and Brown writers, producers, directors and creators remains extraordinarily high,” Hostin wrote in a statement. She argued that stories told from those perspectives are frequently treated as niche. When they are adapted for film and television, creators are often pressured to make compromises that damage their authenticity.
“Streaming was supposed to democratize storytelling and create more opportunities for voices that traditional Hollywood had overlooked,” she continued. “In many respects, that promise has not been fulfilled. We have watched diverse programming disappear, projects by creators of color struggle to secure financing and marketing support, and Black and Brown storytellers continue to fight for access to the same resources routinely committed to other projects.”
Hostin Hopes to Bring Her Novels to the Screen
The author and The View co-host added that her novels “celebrate Black life, Black love, Black wealth, Black history and the extraordinary legacy of historically Black beach communities in America.” She argued that Hollywood has failed to give work like hers “the same cinematic ambition, investment and attention” afforded to other stories.

Hostin believes AI could begin to change that dynamic.
“I have spent much of my career talking about who gets a seat at the table,” she wrote. “What excites me about this technology is the possibility that creators may no longer have to wait for someone else to give them that seat. We may be able to build our own table.”
In conclusion, she wrote, “I want the young Black or Brown writer sitting somewhere right now with a screenplay, a novel, or an extraordinary idea, to understand that the future of storytelling may not require waiting for Hollywood’s permission.”
Hostin Breaks With The View Co-Hosts on AI
Hostin’s embrace of the technology is particularly notable because several of her colleagues on The View have publicly criticized artificial intelligence.
As Entertainment Weekly noted, Whoopi Goldberg objected in June when celebrities encouraged Hollywood professionals to embrace AI. She argued that people should not be pressured into adopting technology they do not understand or trust.

Goldberg has also revealed that her will prohibits anyone from licensing her likeness to create a hologram after her death.
Hostin, however, appears confident that retaining control of her likeness and intellectual property will prevent such exploitation. Her agreement with Fountain 0 may provide an early test of whether AI can truly expand opportunities for creators without displacing the artists and performers whose work makes those productions possible.
