Disney Abu Dhabi Expansion Raises Eyebrows as Virtue Signaling American Company Partners With Restrictive Middle Eastern Regime

The Walt Disney Company made waves this week with its announcement of a brand-new theme park and resort coming to Abu Dhabi in the United Aram Emirates. While the project marks Disney’s seventh global theme park destination, it also marks a new chapter in the company’s corporate strategy: doing business in regions that impose significant restrictions on personal freedoms, expression, and dissent.

The Walt Disney Company just made a major announcement—but it’s not one that will cost them much upfront. Disney is expanding its theme park footprint to the Middle East, teaming up with Miral to bring a brand-new park and resort to Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. According to theme park news site Blog Mickey, the experience includes prime window seating for “Luminous: The Symphony of Us,” sommelier-selected bubbly, themed cocktails, and light fare. The cost? $179 per adult, plus tax and gratuity—and that’s excluding the park admission.

If you thought each virtual queue rollout was a disaster at Walt Disney World and Disneyland, it looks like Disney is ready to bring that frustration to the high seas as part of the Disney Cruise Line.

Guests aboard the Disney Wish were met with an unwelcome surprise during the ship’s April 21 voyage — the rollout of a virtual queue system for popular onboard experiences. Using the Disney Cruise Line’s Navigator app, passengers were encouraged to reserve times for character meet-and-greets and rides like the AquaMouse water coaster. Access to the app is complimentary even without a paid Wi-Fi package, but that doesn’t make the move any less controversial.

Epic Universe Expected to Generate Billions in Revenue, Decrease Walt Disney World’s Market Share

As the grand opening of Universal Studios Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe approaches on May 22, 2025, anticipation is building for what promises to be a transformative addition to Central Florida’s tourism landscape. This marks the first major theme park opening in Florida since 1999, signaling a significant expansion in the region’s entertainment offerings. It now appears that Universal Studios will utterly transform the theme park industry in less than a month, and not just for Florida… but perhaps for the entire world.
