ABC’s long-running daytime talk show The View is reportedly facing significant budget cuts behind the scenes, with a new report claiming the financial tightening has affected everything from host salaries to wardrobe budgets while raising fresh questions about the show’s future.
According to a report from Page Six Hollywood, multiple insiders say the Disney-owned daytime staple has been scaling back spending ahead of its upcoming season, with cuts impacting talent compensation, production, and even some of the show’s signature traditions.
The View Budget Report Claims Hosts Took Pay Cuts
According to Page Six Hollywood, several of The View‘s current co-hosts — including Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin — have reportedly taken pay reductions since Season 29 premiered in September 2025.
The report claims Goldberg remains the highest-paid member of the panel, earning a mid-seven-figure salary despite the reductions. However, the situation is reportedly very different for Farah Griffin.

An insider alleged that Farah Griffin earns a mid-six-figure salary and was denied a significant raise after requesting one.
Neither ABC nor representatives for The View publicly confirmed the salary claims. According to Page Six, an ABC spokesperson declined to comment on the report.
Wardrobe Budget Also Reportedly Slashed
The financial tightening reportedly extends well beyond salaries.
According to the outlet’s sources, The View has dramatically reduced its wardrobe budget, forcing hosts to move away from the high-end designer clothing that had become commonplace on the program.

One insider told the publication: “They’re all mad because they were all wearing really expensive designer clothes, and now it’s the same budget of a Wendy Williams-type show versus a marquee daytime show.”
The same source added that spending has continued to shrink over time, claiming: “They keep downsizing and downsizing and downsizing.”
More Changes Could Be Coming
The report suggests the budget reductions may not be over.
According to Page Six Hollywood’s sources, additional cost-cutting measures are expected before production resumes for the next season in September.

Among the reported changes:
- The show has already downgraded its production space.
- The annual Halloween-themed episode, traditionally one of the program’s most popular installments, is reportedly being canceled this year.
- Product integrations have reportedly become less common as advertisers allegedly shift interest toward competing daytime programs.
One source described growing friction between the network and the production, telling the outlet: “There are definitely tensions with ABC.”
Again, ABC has not publicly responded to these specific claims.
Disney Has Been Cutting Costs Across Television
If accurate, the reported cuts at The View would align with broader cost-cutting efforts throughout Disney’s television business over the past several years.
The company has undergone multiple rounds of layoffs while repeatedly emphasizing improving profitability across Disney’s linear television operations. As traditional cable audiences continue to decline and advertising revenue remains under pressure, many television divisions have faced increased scrutiny over production costs.

Although The View has remained one of ABC’s highest-profile daytime programs since debuting in 1997, even long-running franchises have not been immune from the broader financial realities affecting legacy television.
Whether these reported budget reductions ultimately impact the show’s on-air product remains to be seen, but if the Page Six report is accurate, The View may be entering one of its leanest production periods in years.
