Actress and filmmaker Olivia Wilde has made her feelings about Elon Musk unmistakably clear, referring to the billionaire as a “creature” and saying she now “deeply” resents him.

According to Variety, Wilde revealed during an appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast that she briefly met Musk many years ago, before his political views and online presence made him an increasingly polarizing public figure.

Wilde connected Musk to her broader criticisms of what she sees as misogyny, male entitlement, and online “incel” culture.

Olivia Wilde Recalls Meeting Elon Musk

“I met him before he turned into this creature. I really resent him now, I really deeply resent him,” she said.

Wilde recalled touring SpaceX’s headquarters in Los Angeles shortly after the facility was built. She accepted the invitation partly because she wanted to see the company’s rockets.

At the time, Musk was also reportedly considering supporting an organization Wilde worked with in Haiti. The group was involved in constructing hospitals and schools.

“I met him many, many years ago. I think SpaceX had just built their headquarters in L.A, and I got to go on a tour because I wanted to see the rocket ships,” Wilde explained. “And he was interested in donating money to an organization that I was a part of in Haiti that was building hospitals and schools, and he was quite interested in donating money.”

Wilde believes Musk ultimately contributed some money to the organization, something she acknowledged and appreciated. However, she admitted that she found him confusing even during their early encounter.

“I believe he did donate a little bit of money, and that’s appreciated. But I was kind of confused by him,” Wilde said. “I never would’ve predicted that he would go the path that he’s gone now because he did seem really smart.”

The comments suggest that Wilde may have once viewed Musk as an intelligent and potentially philanthropic figure, albeit an unusual one. She now sees him as a “creature.”

Wilde Connects Musk to “Incel” Culture

In the years since that brief interaction, Musk has become increasingly outspoken about his political opinions and personal philosophy. His support for President Donald Trump, whom Wilde has frequently criticized, may have also influenced the actress’s changing perspective.

Variety reports that Wilde views Musk as representative of “incel” culture. She previously defined the group as “disenfranchised, mostly white men, who believe they are entitled to intimacy from women. And they believe that society has now robbed them — that the idea of feminism is working against nature, and that we must be put back into the correct place.”

As an example of Musk promoting what she considers a similar ideology, Wilde pointed to his “talking about how we don’t have enough people and the world is underpopulated and we could handle another billion people.”

Hollywood’s Changing Opinion of Elon Musk

Wilde’s claim that Musk is a “creature” comes shortly after Mark Ruffalo called him a “monster.” Many online observers were quick to note that the actor had been extremely enthusiastic about Tesla’s work in 2014.

Musk has not publicly responded to Ruffalo or Wilde’s remarks. However, their descriptions of him as a “monster” and a “creature” demonstrate how dramatically Hollywood’s opinion of the billionaire has shifted as his political views have become more public.
