It’s been a long ride waiting for Typhoon Lagoon to finally reopen. WDW Pro covered back in October that it looked like the world famous waterpark would be reopening in January, which is now confirmed by Disney Parks. Before that, Pro has said that Disney wanted to open Typhoon Lagoon instead of Blizzard Beach due to the park being larger and having better ways to handle social distancing during stormy weather. However, a mistake resulting in a collapsed section of Mount Mayday at Typhoon Lagoon may have forced Disney to make the switch for 2021.

Now, with news that Typhoon Lagoon is officially opening in January of 2022, we’re also hearing from Disney Parks that the water wonderland will return with new offerings. These aren’t new attractions, but they just might get people every bit as excited! Specialized Dole Whips are coming to Typhoon Lagoon when it reopens, specifically to the Snack Shack. There’s little that sounds better than a Dole Whip at a waterpark.

Do we still recommend a Sand Pail Sundae if you’ve never had one? You’d better believe it!

Here’s the press release from Disney Parks:

Guests will encounter a selection of mouth-watering new DOLE Whip menu offerings at the shipwreck-inspired eatery, Snack Shack. In addition to two Moana-inspired DOLE Whip character cones, guests can tantalize their taste buds by building their own tropical flavor combination with their choice of mango, lime, raspberry or pineapple DOLE Whip.

Adults can complement their custom DOLE Whip creation by mixing in tequila, coconut rum or dark rum. The Snack Shack at Typhoon Tilly’s will also serve the Habanero Lime Galley Shack Swirl, a new signature cocktail balancing spicy habanero, sweet mango and tangy lime flavors.

In addition to the new snack options, there are also food items coming to the park brand new:

Walt’s Chili Nachos (Snack Shack) – A new twist on a classic favorite, this playful interpretation of Walt Disney’s beloved chili recipe features house-fried tortillas, cheese, guacamole, shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, sour cream and jalapeño.

EARidescent Ice Dream Cone (Happy Landings) – This birthday cake-flavored soft-serve swirl in a white chocolate-dipped cone honors the celebration with EARidescent sprinkles.

Walt Disney World Popcorn Bucket (Main Change) – Available throughout the celebration, this popcorn bucket features whimsical illustrations of iconic Walt Disney World landmarks along with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in their 50th celebration fashions.

50th Anniversary Refillable Mug – The new 50th anniversary Refillable Mug will be available at all dining locations and features celebratory Disney Water Parks-inspired artwork that pays tribute to “The World’s Most Magical Celebration.”

Finally, Learn to Surf and Private Surf Sessions are back at Typhoon Lagoon and already available for booking. Guests who would like to surf in the giant wave pool are welcome to contact Disney to set up a session prior to the park’s opening.
