The game will feature an original story and tells the story of four main characters in a young Steve Rogers as Captain America, Azurri, the grandfather of T’Challa and the World War II-era Black Panther, Gabriel Jones, a member of the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, a Wakandan spy stationed in Occupied Paris.

Rogers will be voiced Drew Moerlain. Khary Payton brings to life Black Panther, Megalyn Echikunwoke plays Nanali and Marque Richardson plays Gabriel Jones. The game will also feature Howard Stark, who is voiced by Joel Johnstone, and a French Resistance ally named Julie played by Lyne Renée.

As seen below, the trailer shows German soldiers coming through the streets of a city searching for Captain America. However, Cap is more concerned about an encounter he had with Black Panther.

It appears that both Black Panther and Captain America are tracking down the same thing, the Eye of Force, but they are clearly not aligned in the trailer as the two eventually confront each other and a fight ensues.

No other details about the game were released and no gameplay was shown albeit the story trailer appears to indicate that gameplay might feature Assassin’s Creed style parkour as well as combat similar to the Batman: Arkham series or Marvel’s Spider-Man.

The game is expected to arrive sometime in 2025.

While not originally titled Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the game was announced back in October 2021 when Skydance New Media announced they had formed a partnership with Marvel Entertainment “to develop a narrative-driven blockbuster action-adventure game, featuring a completely original story and take on the Marvel Universe.”

Hennig said back in 2021, “I can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game. The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience. It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love.”

Marvel Games Head Jay Ong added at the time, “Amy has been setting the bar for narrative adventure games for decades and we are happy to be collaborating with the talented and experienced New Media team at Skydance.”

“Their ambition and vision for making innovative entertainment using beloved Marvel IP was obvious from our first meeting. We’re excited to share more with Marvel fans when the time is right,” he said.

On top of this Marvel project, Skydance New Media is also working on a Star Wars project. It was announced back in April 2022 with a press release detailing, ” Skydance New Media, helmed by award-winning writer and director Amy Hennig, today announced a collaboration with Lucasfilm Games to develop and produce a richly cinematic action-adventure game featuring an original story in the legendary Star Wars™ galaxy.

Hennig said at the time, ““I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly. I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.”

Hennig is an accomplished writer and director working at Naughty Dog for over a decade as the Creative Director and Lead Writer for their Uncharted series. She also previously worked at Crystal Dynamics on the Legacy of Kain and Soul Reaver series. Before joining Skydance New Media, she worked on an unreleased Star Wars game as a Senior Creative Director at Electronic Arts (EA).
