Ahsoka Season 2 is moving forward at Lucasfilm and Disney Plus. Fan-favorite character Baylan Skoll (one of the only popular characters to come out of the show) has reportedly been recast, replacing the late Ray Stevenson with Game of Thrones actor, Rory McCann.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor best known as The Hound in the famous Game of Thrones TV series will take up the mantle of lightsaber-wielding villain in Ahsoka going forward. However, it will not be an easy role to fill. Baylan Skoll, and by proxy Ray Stevenson, was considered the best part of the Star Wars series by many.

Ray Stevenson tragically died in 2023 as a result of heart issues before the first episode of Ahsoka aired. The debut episode of the show was dedicated to his memory.

McCann is joining the Star Wars franchise at a very low point, with audiences abandoning the galaxy far, far away in droves.

Lucasfilm has produced Star Wars failure after failure in recent years. The first season of Ahsoka saw abysmal ratings and was considered Lucasfilm’s greatest TV failure at that time. Last year, Rosario Dawson, who plays Ahsoka, even admitted that there were no official talks regarding a Season 2.
Then, The Acolyte aired.
The show set new lows for the Star Wars franchise, usurping Ahsoka in terrible ratings and horrific reviews. The latest addition to the Star Wars Disney+ lineup, Skeleton Crew, is reported to have even lower ratings than The Acolyte, granting it the distinct dishonor of being the least-watched Star Wars show in history.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that Skeleton Crew is terrible. Many who tuned in admitted that Skeleton Crew was a decent kids show, but the majority of viewers simply don’t care. The show failed to track in the Nielsen streaming ratings top 10, which is wild for such an established IP.

Many now believe Star Wars is a dead brand.

To summarize, even if Rory McCann proves a worthy replacement for Stevenson, there is no guarantee that anyone will watch his performance.

For many fans, Star Wars has been dead for a while under the direct supervision of Kathleen Kennedy. What we’ve seen lately is nothing more than a deteriorating zombie. Lucasfilm, and by extension Kennedy, is the necromancer that brought it into being, and it’s up to Star Wars fans save it.

Watching men fight with wooden sticks is boring because it won’t do any real damage.

Watching women fight with lightsabers, having one get stabbed, and then having her be hurt for a while and having a bad scar before she continues on with life isn’t much better.

It used to mean something when Qui Gon or others got impaled, but Disney made lightsaber battles meaningless.

Mad Lemming

Why is Disney doing this? The first season only got marginally better viewer numbers than The Wokolyte. It’s just more money tossed on the bonfire that used to be the company.

CleatusDefeatus

Like a moth to a fatal flame. They’re incapable of turning the wheel to avoid the inevitable collision. Quite fascinating, albeit, in a train-wreck fashion.

Disney Star Wars is a dead brand. But, all you have to do is make a fun, anti-woke Star-Wars, that ignores the Disney feminsta nonsense… and with less “Diversity” – which is code for “anti-Whitey”. A movie made by real men, for real men… And it’s gonna be hugely profitable.
The only reason the Star Wars brand is dead, is, it’s being made for DEI lesbians.
