Disney has officially scheduled Camp Rock 3, the next installment in the youth-oriented musical franchise, with a release date of August 2026. The film will debut simultaneously on Disney+ and the Disney Channel, continuing the company’s pattern of pairing streaming premieres with traditional platform exposure.
The Camp Rock franchise began in 2008 with the original film that introduced a summer music camp setting and a cast of aspiring performers. A sequel followed in 2010, and both films aired first on Disney Channel before later appearing on Disney+. The third film marks the first new Camp Rock project in more than a decade.
Disney’s announcement of the August 2026 release window comes after the project was confirmed for production in September 2025. The film is being positioned to attract both long-time fans of the original films and new viewers within Disney+’s family audiences.

Camp Rock 3 will continue to explore competitive dynamics within the fictional summer camp setting after the band Connect 3 plans a reunion tour. Losing their opener, the band hopes to find new talent at Camp Rock.
Casting
Disney has confirmed that the Jonas Brothers — Joe, Nick, and Kevin — will reprise their roles as Shane, Nate, and Jason Gray in Camp Rock 3. The trio will also serve as executive producers on the project. Their return marks the first on-screen continuation of the fictional band Connect 3 since Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam in 2010.
Maria Canals-Barrera is also confirmed to return as Connie Torres, continuing her role from the earlier films as the mother of Mitchie.
Demi Lovato is attached to the film as an executive producer. However, Disney has not confirmed whether Lovato will reprise the role of Mitchie Torres on screen.

The film will introduce a new generation of campers portrayed by several younger performers. Confirmed new cast members include Liamani Segura as Sage, Malachi Barton as Fletch, Lumi Pollack as Rosie, Hudson Stone as Desi, Casey Trotter as Cliff, Brooklynn Pitts as Callie, and Ava Jean as Madison. These additions indicate that the story will shift focus toward new performers while maintaining continuity with returning characters.
Context: Disney’s Nostalgia Strategy and Streaming Growth
The Camp Rock revival fits into a wider pattern of Disney revisiting legacy intellectual property to support engagement on Disney+.
A key example is the Hocus Pocus sequel, Hocus Pocus 2, which premiered in 2022 nearly 30 years after the original film. According to Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings, Hocus Pocus 2 logged more than 2.7 billion minutes viewed in a single week following its September 2022 debut.
That total represented the largest opening week for a film on Disney+ at the time and exceeded the previous weekly high set by Encanto, which drew roughly 2.2 billion minutes during one of its peak streaming weeks. The performance demonstrated the strong release-window impact of a sequel tied to a long-established property.

These Disney Channel-origin projects typically generate concentrated engagement during release periods. They rely heavily on established audience familiarity and franchise recognition rather than long-term episodic storytelling.
By comparison, newer big-budget series often generate strong but more gradual viewing totals. Nielsen reported that a peak week for Andor reached approximately 931 million minutes viewed during its run. While serialized shows such as The Mandalorian and Andor contribute to sustained engagement across multiple weeks, their single-week totals generally do not match the concentrated debut spikes achieved by certain nostalgia-based films. These figures illustrate how legacy properties can produce higher short-term viewing surges, even as large franchise series serve longer-term subscriber retention goals.
Positioning of Camp Rock 3 in Disney’s Streaming Strategy
Within this framework, Camp Rock 3 represents a legacy franchise adapted for streaming-era distribution. It reinforces Disney’s strategy of balancing new global franchises with established intellectual property.
The confirmed August 2026 release provides clarity on the Camp Rock 3 release date on Disney+, placing it within Disney’s broader summer programming slate.
The project also continues Disney’s practice of reintroducing earlier Disney Channel brands to new audiences while maintaining continuity for long-time viewers.
