A new rumor claims that reshoots for Captain America: Brave New World are reportedly scrapping the Serpent Society from the film.

It was reported by scooper Daniel RPK via MarvelNewsFilms on X that Captain America: Brave New World would undergo huge reshoots between May and August indicating these are not your typical pickup shots.

YouTuber Overlord DVD indicated the film was not just going to be reshot, but that the script was being rewritten.
He shared, “They are more convinced that Cap 4 doesn’t have a script. They say that what they are doing is shooting from a notebook that has notes on what they are supposed to do. According to the director this is a way of getting ahead of themselves while they wait for the official script.”
Overlord DVD added “This came from the director himself as the director and Anthony [Mackie] were in another heated discussion over the way the reshoots were being handled. It’s unclear just how long it will take to complete the rewrite. It is very clear to our source that Anthony’s biggest concern is this movie may get cancelled.
As for why the film is reportedly undergoing such extensive and long-lasting reshoots, ComicBookMovie.com reports that scooper CanWeGetSomeToast claims it’s because “the Serpent Society has been completely removed from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier follow-up.”
This is surprising given there were prominent set photos of pro-wrestler Seth Rollins on the set of the film. He was rumored to be playing Cobra by CanWeGetSomeToast on Instagram last July.

Furthermore the scooper also shared that Isaiah Bradley would be “suiting up for some action against the Serpent Society as a part of his return” in the film.

He also shared that the organization would kidnap Joaquin Torres and “hybridize him with a comic accurate Red Wing, (the bird).”

While Can We Get Some Toast allegedly claims the Serpent Society is being scrapped from the film, ComicBookMovie.com also reports that writer Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus disputes CanWeGetSomeToast’s claim that the Serpent Society is being scrapped from the film.
The outlet claims the Serpent Society’s role is being reduced to an opening sequence rather than playing an ongoing role throughout the rest of the film.

These reported reshoots are a potential disaster for Marvel Studios as they will rack up big costs for the studio that they will unlikely be able to recuperate at the box office. Financial analyst Valliant Renegade noted, “What a disaster…that’s gotta be another easy $100M+ in budget overruns right there. 60-90 days is enough to reshoot this ENTIRE film.”

One interesting aspect to these rumored reshoots is they come after Marvel announced they were creatively rebooting Daredevil: Born Again and had shelved the show’s original writers and directors.
It’s quite possible something similar might have happened with Captain America: Brave New World, it just hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.

Regardless, Captain America: Brave New World has a massive uphill battle given the film is titled Captain America, but will seemingly not feature Captain America rather it will star Sam Wilson aka The Falcon masquerading as Captain America.
