Disney’s live-action adaptation of Tangled has entered production, and unofficial photos from the live-action Tangled set have begun circulating online. The images provide an early look at costumes, filming locations, and several recreated settings inspired by the 2010 animated film.

Many of the photos come from X user Tangled Updates. The page has added photos over the last two weeks, with fans growing excited and sometimes having mixed feelings about the images being leaked from the set.

Filming Is Underway in Spain

Principal photography began in late June 2026. Reports indicate that production is taking place in Girona and other Spanish locations before moving to the United Kingdom later in the filming schedule.

Director Michael Gracey is directing the adaptation. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Michael Montemayor wrote the screenplay. Disney has not announced a theatrical release date.

The outdoor filming locations have attracted onlookers, leading to numerous photos and short videos appearing online.

First Look at Rapunzel and Flynn Rider

The leaked material includes the first public look at Teagan Croft as Rapunzel and Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider.

Croft appears in a purple dress inspired by Rapunzel’s animated costume. The design keeps the recognizable silhouette while incorporating updated textures. Fans have already noted the loss of pink in the color scheme as well as the front-tie detailing She also wears an exceptionally long braid created through a combination of hairstyling and costume design, though this is likely a placeholder for CGI animation later in production.

Manheim appears in clothing closely resembling Flynn Rider’s familiar outfit. His costume includes a cream-colored shirt, dark vest, boots, belt, and satchel. Several leaked videos show the pair filming scenes together in outdoor locations, although Disney has not identified which scenes are being filmed.

Sets Recreate the Kingdom of Corona

Many of the leaked images focus on the production’s large outdoor sets. The streets feature stone buildings, decorative banners, and market stalls that resemble the Kingdom of Corona from the animated film.Of particular interest is a mural of the king and queen holding baby Rapunzel.

Other photos show detailed town decorations, including hanging lanterns, market displays, and the kingdom’s distinctive sun emblem throughout the set.

Viewers Notice Differences in the Production Design

Some viewers have pointed out differences between the live-action sets and the animated film.

One frequently discussed detail involves several blue banners visible throughout the town instead of the purple banners that appeared prominently in the original movie. Disney has not commented on the color choice. It remains unclear whether the change reflects a permanent design decision or simply the appearance of one filming location.

Because the production remains in progress, the finished film could differ from what appears in the leaked Tangled live-action photos.

Additional Characters Appear During Filming

Several leaked videos also show actors portraying armed thieves during action sequences filmed in Spain. Entertainment outlets have suggested that these performers may represent characters from the animated film, including the Stabbington Brothers and Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel. However, Disney has not confirmed the identities of those characters.

Large groups of extras also appear throughout the footage. They wear medieval-inspired costumes while filming market scenes and public gatherings inside the recreated kingdom.

Familiar Scenes and Mixed Reviews

One of the clearest scenes circulating shows three children excitedly braiding Rapunzel’s hair. Toward the end of the video if one looks closely at the bottom right corner, Manheim can be seen with a white horse resembling Maximus, before ducking as guards pass by.

Some fans are excited to see how closely the images seem to match the scenes from the beloved 2010 movie. Others worry that the film will simply copy the animated story scene-for-scene with little to add other than it being yet another live-action.

Official Details Remain Limited

The leaked photos from Disney’s live-action Tangled offer an early look at the production, but they do not represent the finished movie. Modern film productions often undergo months of visual effects work, color grading, editing, and sound design before release.

Until Disney releases official promotional images or a trailer, the circulating set photos provide only a limited snapshot of the project during filming.
