A new rumor claims actor Brian Tyree Henry has been cast as Harvey Dent in Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II. The report comes from industry scooper Jeff Sneider, who alleges that earlier assumptions about Sebastian Stan playing Dent were incorrect.

While the claim has generated significant discussion among Batman fans, it remains unconfirmed and should be viewed cautiously given Sneider’s uneven track record.
Sneider Claims Sebastian Stan Is Playing Victor Zsasz
On June 12, Sneider posted what he described as an “exclusive” scoop on his blog, The InSneider, and across his social media accounts. According to Sneider, Sebastian Stan is actually playing Victor Zsasz rather than Harvey Dent.

The claim immediately drew skepticism. On May 14, The Batman: Part II writer and director Matt Reeves posted online that Stan was joining the film with the caption, “In a Gotham state of mind… Welcome.” Stan later told Deadline that he would be playing “many roles” in the film. Many fans interpreted the comment as a reference to the dual nature of Harvey Dent and his villainous alter ego, Two-Face.
While Reeves never confirmed which character Stan would portray, Variety reported at the time that the actor was “set to play Harvey Dent.”
Reeves also announced in May that Brian Tyree Henry had joined the cast in an undisclosed role. Despite fan speculation that Henry could play GCPD Detective Harvey Bullock or even Lucius Fox, Sneider’s latest claims have dramatically shifted the conversation.

Notably, if the rumor is true, Brian Tyree Henry would not be the first black actor to play Harvey Dent. In Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman, Billy Dee Williams portrayed a pre-Two-Face version of the character. Reeves has also demonstrated a willingness to race-swap established characters. Jeffrey Wright played Jim Gordon in the first film and is returning for the sequel.
However, Sneider’s critics were quick to point out that the scooper’s track record has been inconsistent.

Last August, Sneider claimed that Dick Grayson would appear as Robin in The Batman: Part II. Like the claim that Brian Tyree Henry is playing Harvey Dent, the rumor quickly spread online. However, less than a day later, DC Studios co-head James Gunn publicly pushed back on the report via Threads.
“Guys please stop believing this nonsense,” Gunn wrote. “I think six of us have read the script. No one knows anything about ‘the Batman 2.’ [sic]”

Sneider’s reputation for making bold claims appears to be something he embraces.
Days after claiming that Brian Tyree Henry would play Harvey Dent, Sneider responded to a post from fellow scooper Daniel Richtman, who claimed that Sadie Sink would portray Jean Grey in the MCU.

Fans May Want To Wait For Official Confirmation
For now, Brian Tyree Henry’s alleged role as Harvey Dent remains firmly in rumor territory.
Until Warner Bros. or Matt Reeves officially identifies Henry’s character, Batman fans may want to treat this latest casting report as an interesting possibility rather than established fact. Whether Jeff Sneider is citing sources or simply trolling is a matter of debate. Yet given Sneider’s mixed history, skepticism may be warranted until more concrete information emerges.
