She-Hulk actress Tatiana Maslany continued to attack critics of the Marvel Studios production and Disney+ as sexist.

In an interview with The Independent Maslany was asked by the outlet’s Tom Murray how she handled “the inevitable way of sexist backlash”?

Maslany told Murray, “I think what’s exciting…exciting, ha. I think what’s fun about it is that [series creator] Jessica Gao built into the story that people were going to troll us.”

She continued, “When we started to get the same responses that [Gao] had actually baked into the writing, it felt like part of the fun.”

Maslany’s comments are not unheard of. After the show’s conclusion, she was asked by Variety’s Jordan Morea, “In addition to breaking the fourth wall, the finale tackles some of the exact same trolling comments that Marvel fans have been making. How did it feel to watch that happen as the show aired, knowing how the finale would turn out?”

She responded, “Jessica Gao is a genius and knows about the culture we’re living in and her position in it when she’s writing these stories about a woman superhero. She knows what that response is going to be. As a cast, it was delightful sending each other these troll responses, like ‘Oh my god, give them a week and then they’re going to literally see this pop up verbatim in the show and become the villains of the show.’ It was thrilling.”

When asked, “Were you expecting to face the trolls when you signed on for the show?Maslany responded, “Reading the script, it was so true. There’s so much resistance to a woman just existing in that space of superheroes. There’s always going to be that. I sort of anticipated it. It’s why I also feel it’s important.”

“There’s such an entitlement to space held by certain people, and to even exist as She-Hulk is like a f**k-you, and I love that,” she elaborated.

These attacks on the show’s critics did not appear to help the show at all. Maslany admitted in January that she does not think a second season will happen because they spent too much money.

During an appearance on a Twitch game show called Codenames LIVE! hosted on the NerdIncorrect channel, Maslanay was asked where people could find her. She responded, “I’ve got no job.”

When one of the other panelists, Kristian Bruun told her, “Get a job,” she responded, “I’ve been fishing here. If anybody has any [leads].”

She was then asked, “Should we hope for a Season 2 [of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law]?”

Maslany responded, “I don’t think so. I think we blew our budget and Disney was like, ‘No thanks.’”

She made similar remarks to Extra TV in October when asked about the possibility of a second season.

She said, ““I mean, I don’t think so, yet. Kevin in the scene seems to be very dismissive of this idea, so, if we’re basing this off of the real Kevin, then it doesn’t seem likely. But he was also, I think, just trying to get rid of Jen at that point, because she was asking too many questions… I don’t know. If I could be coy, and have some little secret, I would do that. But, I really don’t. I don’t know anything.”

A rumor from X scooper ThwipT_ back in November claimed the show was expected to have a second season, but its poor reception and performance erased that expectation.

ThwipT_ posted, “She Hulk originally planned to have a S2 but due to poor reception it’s probably not going to happen.”

The series had poor viewership after it debuted on Disney+ in August. It did not appear on Nielsen’s Top 10 list for the week of its debut meaning it had lower viewership than 10th places Instant Dream Home, which only garnered 395 million minutes viewed.

The show’s season finale, which aired on October 13, 2022, did draw in 526 million minutes as noted by NowItsKnown on X.

However, it’s unclear how many of those minutes were actually just the season finale and were people binging the entire season once all episodes of the show had been released.

Not only was viewership poor, but audience reception was atrocious. On Rotten Tomatoes the show received a rotten 32%.

On IMDb, the series currently has a terrible 5.3 out of 10 with an overwhelming 30% of reviewers giving it a 1 out of 10.

Tatiana Maslany is completely out of touch with reality, she’s the main reason I refuse to watch Invincible season two.
