The upcoming Spider-Man movie is one of the most highly anticipated blockbusters of the summer, with its first trailer reportedly breaking viewership records. The film is not scheduled to hit theaters until July 31. However, according to several reports, an unfinished version of Spider-Man: Brand New Day may have already been offered for sale online.

While the claim remains unverified, it has quickly attracted attention from fans and industry observers who are already watching Sony’s ongoing battle against leaks.

Rumor Claims Workprint Was Offered For Sale

Two major social media accounts claimed on June 10 that a Spider-Man: Brand New Day workprint was being offered on a “black market” to users who specialize in movie leaks. However, no verified footage from the alleged leak has surfaced publicly, and there is currently no evidence that a full copy of the film is circulating online.

As of this writing, neither Sony Pictures nor Marvel Studios has publicly commented on the rumor.

That has not stopped fans from speculating. Some believe the claim is legitimate given both the film’s and Sony’s recent history with leaks. Others remain skeptical. Users on Reddit and other forums have argued that if footage were genuinely available, scenes from Spider-Man: Brand New Day would likely already be circulating across social media.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Has Already Experienced Multiple Leaks

Whether or not the latest rumor proves true, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already experienced several notable leaks.

Earlier this year, footage from the film’s first trailer appeared online ahead of its official release. More recently, a higher-quality version of another trailer surfaced on social media platforms. The leaked footage reportedly included Sony watermarks, suggesting it may have originated from a private distribution source.

The trailer quickly spread across the internet before Sony began issuing copyright takedown notices. Many observers viewed the response as confirmation that the footage was authentic rather than AI-generated.

Paul Tassi of Forbes reported that the leaked trailer he viewed was remarkably high quality. While he did not publish screenshots, he summarized several details from the footage. According to Tassi, the trailer does not reveal much about the film’s overall story, and the identity of Sadie Sink’s character remains one of its biggest mysteries.

A Bigger Concern Than Trailer Leaks

Several sources claim that a second trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day will officially be released on June 17.

However, an entire film potentially leaking online would represent a far more serious issue for Sony than a trailer escaping early. Even if a leaked workprint has little impact on ticket sales, studios spend hundreds of millions of dollars producing and marketing blockbuster films. They also carefully control how and when footage is released to build anticipation and shape audience expectations.

For now, fans may choose to wait and experience Spider-Man: Brand New Day as intended rather than seek out an unfinished version. Meanwhile, Sony will undoubtedly be hoping that future headlines focus on the movie itself rather than what may have escaped online before audiences get the chance to see it.
