Black smoke was seen billowing from the roof of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Wednesday morning, marking yet another fire-related incident at Walt Disney World in recent days.

According to eyewitness video first shared on Reddit, the fire appeared to break out on the roof of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort before quickly being extinguished. The outlet reports the visible flames and smoke lasted only one to two minutes before disappearing.

Photos taken from the area show a thick plume of black smoke rising above the deluxe EPCOT-area resort, immediately drawing the attention of guests staying nearby.

At the time of publication, Disney has not released an official statement regarding the cause of the fire, whether any guests were displaced, or if any injuries occurred.

Fire Comes During Major Yacht Club Refurbishment

The incident is particularly notable because Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is currently undergoing an extensive exterior refurbishment that includes roof work and construction scaffolding across portions of the hotel.

While no connection has been confirmed, the timing has naturally led to speculation that construction activity could have played a role in the incident. At this point, however, there is no evidence confirming that was the cause, and any link remains speculative.

The fire reportedly burned for only a brief period before being brought under control.

Another Disney World Fire in Less Than a Week

This is not the first fire emergency reported at Walt Disney World this week.

Just days ago, emergency crews responded to a fire at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside after smoke prompted a 911 response. That incident was also handled quickly, with no reported injuries and normal resort operations resuming shortly afterward.

Whether the two events are simply an unfortunate coincidence or indicative of broader maintenance and construction challenges remains unknown.

Latest Incident Continues String of Fire-Related Events at Walt Disney World

While each incident appears to have been contained quickly and without serious injuries, the fire at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is the latest in a growing list of fire-related events at Walt Disney World over the past year.

In June, a kitchen fire broke out inside Bourbon Steak at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort, prompting the evacuation of the resort’s lobby and several guest room floors as firefighters responded. Disney later confirmed the blaze was contained to the restaurant, though the dining location remained closed following the incident.

Just weeks earlier, Magic Kingdom’s newly reopened Big Thunder Mountain Railroad experienced a small fire on its first day back in operation following a lengthy refurbishment. According to reports, Cast Members quickly extinguished the flames with a fire extinguisher before the attraction was temporarily closed.

Earlier this year, Disney’s monorail system also experienced a fire aboard one of its trains, forcing Disney to temporarily suspend portions of monorail service while emergency crews responded. Although the incident was resolved without serious injuries, it once again drew attention to the resort’s aging infrastructure.

Meanwhile, EPCOT has seen multiple fire incidents in recent memory. In March 2025, a backstage fire near the France Pavilion sent a massive plume of smoke over the park and forced the evacuation of guests from Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure after a walk-in cooler caught fire. Then, in May 2025, a popcorn cart in World Celebration caught fire before Cast Members quickly extinguished the flames.

Now, smoke rising from the roof of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort adds yet another entry to that list.

While there is no evidence linking any of these incidents, and each appears to have had its own cause, the frequency of highly visible fires across Walt Disney World has become increasingly difficult to ignore—particularly as numerous attractions, resorts, and transportation systems undergo extensive refurbishment and maintenance projects.

Disney Has Yet to Comment

As of this writing, Disney has not publicly commented on Wednesday’s Yacht Club fire or provided details regarding its cause.

For now, the only confirmed information is that smoke was visible rising from the roof, the fire appears to have been extinguished quickly, and there have been no reports of injuries or significant operational impacts.
