Twitch streamer ExtraEmily has made the jump to Disney+ and Hulu with a 15-episode reality series assembled from her existing online content.

ExtraEmily Creator Essentials premiered on both streaming services on August 1. The series repackages footage from Emily Zhang’s previous livestreams and vlogs into episodes resembling a more traditional television program.

According to Dexerto, ExtraEmily agreed to let producers use her streams after being approached about the project.

“I’m actually so curious how they’re gonna edit it but, basically, I was like ‘Yeah of course you can put my streams on Hulu. I think that would be fun,’” she said on stream. “So if they do well on Hulu then that’s really good. And they will let me know if they end up doing well.”

The finished season includes 15 episodes, each running approximately 22 minutes. The official Disney+ listing classifies the show as a TV-14 reality series.

ExtraEmily Brings Twitch Content to Disney+

ExtraEmily is best known for her energetic “in real life” livestreams, which often feature challenges, social experiments, collaborations, and unpredictable public activities. The new series preserves that format while presenting the footage in shorter, professionally edited episodes.

Installments include “Cooking Without Seeing, Hearing, or Speaking!,” “ExtraEmily Vs. Agent00 in Beach Volleyball!,” and “Working Out With Sara Saffari!” Other episodes follow the streamer as she learns to skateboard, visits a haunted house, plays miniature golf with her father, participates in a paintball tournament, and explores a large water park.

Several other online personalities appear throughout the season, including Agent00, Cinna, Maya Higa, Sara Saffari, Zoil, T10Nat, Blau, and Juliakins.

ExtraEmily’s Past Controversies Resurface

Many online reactions to the announcement referenced the Twitch streamer’s past controversies. ExtraEmily has twice been banned from the platform for streaming while driving, with the most recent incident occurring on June 28.

According to Twitch’s Community Guidelines, “Operating your vehicle while interacting with your stream in a way that removes your eyes from the road or hands from controlling your vehicle” is prohibited.

Disney Embraces Low-Cost Creator Content

The series was produced by pocket.watch, a media company specializing in turning digital creators into entertainment franchises for children and families. ExtraEmily joins Matthew Beem, ZHC, and Topper Guild among the personalities previously featured under the company’s Creator Essentials banner.

Despite the headline-making move, ExtraEmily Creator Essentials is not a completely original Disney production. Rather than filming 15 new episodes for the company, pocket.watch adapted material that ExtraEmily had already created for Twitch and other online platforms.

The arrangement presumably limits Disney’s financial exposure. Whether the series will attract new Disney+ subscribers or primarily appeal to ExtraEmily’s existing audience remains to be seen.

Nevertheless, its presence on Disney+ and Hulu marks a significant expansion for the streamer. Her content can now reach subscribers who may not regularly visit Twitch or follow livestreaming culture.

The release also reflects the shrinking boundary between social media and conventional television. Streaming services are increasingly turning to influencers with established audiences, allowing them to acquire recognizable personalities and large volumes of content without developing those brands from the ground up.

For ExtraEmily, the arrangement transforms livestreams originally created for an online audience into a full television season. For Disney and Hulu, it offers an inexpensive way to court younger viewers already accustomed to creator-driven entertainment.
