After exploding past industry projections all weekend, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has finished its domestic debut with an astonishing $360 million opening weekend, edging past Avengers: Endgame‘s legendary $357 million launch to claim the biggest opening weekend in domestic box office history.
The final tally also exceeded Sunday’s already staggering $355 million estimate, proving that demand for Tom Holland’s latest outing was even stronger than initially believed.
Spider-Man Now Owns the Biggest Domestic Opening Weekend Ever
For years, Avengers: Endgame looked untouchable.
The culmination of Marvel’s Infinity Saga opened to $357 million domestically in 2019, setting a benchmark that many believed would stand for decades.

Instead, it lasted just seven years. Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially taken the crown.
The new all-time domestic opening weekend rankings now stand as:
- Spider-Man: Brand New Day — $360 million
- Avengers: Endgame — $357 million
- Spider-Man: No Way Home — $260 million
- Avengers: Infinity War — $257 million
Only two films have ever surpassed $300 million in a single domestic weekend, and Spider-Man now sits alone at the top.
It Did It Without a Full IMAX Rollout
The record becomes even more remarkable when considering what Brand New Day didn’t have.
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey continued occupying premium IMAX screens during Spider-Man’s opening weekend, including the coveted 70mm IMAX locations.

Sony only recently announced that Brand New Day would receive a wider digital IMAX rollout beginning later this week.
Premium large-format screenings have become increasingly important for modern blockbuster openings, yet Spider-Man still managed to break the all-time record without full access to those screens.
That makes the accomplishment even more impressive.
Nearly $1 Billion Worldwide in Three Days
The domestic performance was only part of the story.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day also opened to approximately $932 million worldwide, making it the second-largest global opening weekend ever behind Avengers: Endgame.
That’s an extraordinary number by any standard.

Many successful blockbusters never reach $900 million during their entire theatrical runs. Spider-Man nearly accomplished that feat before its first weekend had even ended.
With exceptionally strong audience reception and little immediate competition, the film now appears well-positioned for a lengthy theatrical run that could ultimately place it among the biggest global releases of all time.
Once Again, Audiences Show Up for Movies They Want to See
The success of Brand New Day is also another reminder that audiences haven’t abandoned superhero films.
For years, “superhero fatigue” has been used to explain disappointing performances across the genre.
But recent history tells a more nuanced story.

Spider-Man: No Way Home became one of the biggest films ever released. Deadpool & Wolverine delivered another enormous success. Now Spider-Man: Brand New Day has broken the biggest domestic opening weekend record in movie history.
The pattern increasingly suggests that audiences remain eager to support superhero movies when they believe the films are worth seeing.
Another Huge Marvel Victory That Belongs to Sony
The performance is also another major achievement for Sony Pictures.
While Marvel Studios remains creatively involved with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films under its partnership agreement, the Spider-Man franchise is still distributed by Sony.

That means one of Marvel’s biggest modern success stories continues to come from outside Disney’s direct film distribution slate.
The Tom Holland Spider-Man series has now produced multiple record-setting theatrical events, reinforcing just how valuable the character remains nearly a decade after his MCU debut.
Spider-Man Adds Another Historic Chapter
Every generation has a handful of movies that redefine what is possible at the box office.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has now earned its place on that list.

Breaking Avengers: Endgame‘s opening weekend record would have been impressive under any circumstances.
Doing it while missing much of the premium IMAX footprint makes the achievement even more extraordinary.
Spider-Man has officially climbed to the top of the box office mountain once again.
