Twenty-five years after its debut—and a decade after its last installment—the Scary Movie franchise is back with what it calls a “rebooquel.” Star and co-writer Marlon Wayans said the new film isn’t just about reviving the spoof genre—it’s about pushing back on what he sees as a more cautious comedy landscape. “What we’re trying to do is bring back laughter,” he said. “This is about bringing back comedy the way it used to be. And I think the only way to do it is you have to cancel the cancel culture.”
